Completed the Etape Caledonia yesterday despite being a little under the weather. The run itself went very well however cant help but think I would have managed under the 4 hours if I was – well. This years time 4 hours 9 minutes. Every effort will be made to be fit and well for next year if it goes ahead. Look forward to the Etape Caledonia 2012!

69 miles training run yesterday was a good test for my new bike and it did very well. Need to keep up the big miles for the next 3 weeks so I am ready for Etape Caledonia 2011. Looking forward to it especially on my new Orbea bike – its great!

Well I have purchased my new bike today a lovely red Orbea Onix from local shop Bike Worx in Dundee. It is a very smooth comfortable bike and looks amazing. Check out the picture below.

Its time for me to finally get a new bike I have waited long enough and saved a few pennies – so let the fun begin… I have narrowed my choice a little to the following bikes Ribble, Pinarello, Orbea or Cude. reading reviews and specs of these bikes and will have in the region of £1000 – £1500 to spend.

Well I finally got my finger out and started my training for this years Etape Caledonia with a tough 75 miler with plenty of hills. So this should set me in good preperation considering its about the same distance. I plan on putting in another 500 – 600 miles before the start in May 15th 2011. It was a nice route around fife, starting from Perth to Kinross and back in a figure of 8.

Very impressive talk from Mark Beaumont last night at Dundee University about his achievements so far. Currently he holds the world record for cycling around the world in the fastest time of 194 days 17 hours. His next challenge was to cycle the Americas from Anchorage, Alaska to Ushuaia in Southern Argentina and also climb the 2 highest peaks between – which he completed! So you can imagine he has some stories and experiences to share. Great talk!
